smart dishwashers

Posted by fyxer on November 20, 2007

These new energy saving quiet dishwasher’s that we have these day’s are a cut above their older counterparts, they use less water and energy however with the new technology comes more problems, they are more efficient with the added electronics but they have more components and with more parts there are more things to go wrong for instance even though the engineers try their best to insulate and protect components, the steam, moisture, and humidity eventually get to some parts and damage them.

When these dishwashers are working at their best it’s a beautiful thing what they do acomplish, they sanitize, check the water if it is not hot enough it heat up the water, senses the water quality if the water is still dirty it bring in another rinse it’s amazing how smart these dishwashers are.

what i fix today–monday

Posted by fyxer on October 30, 2007

My first job was a ge washer, the customer said it started to leave grease stains on the clothes a few weeks ago, it was also noisy lately they would only wash during the days as they were afraid of waking up the neighbours if they do a wash at night, this morning when they try to wash a load it took in water and let it out but did not wash or spin the clothes.

After checking the machine i discover that the motor was running, the pump was ok, the belt was good, however the transmission was broken.

My next call was late in the evening, this customer came home and smell gas in the kitchen, when i went over there i discover the gas was leaking from a defective regulator.

what i fix today

Posted by fyxer on October 29, 2007

This is the first installment in my series of what i fix today, i thought i was just going to relax, maybe lay in bed and watch tv but i got a call from a lady that was away from home for a few days, she came home to find most of her things in the refrigerator spoiled, she sound desperate, she wanted me over there right away so i went.

kenmore refrigerator model–363.79262990 the back panel of the freezer compartment had a lot of ice on it, this is an indication that the refrigerator is not defrosting, after locating the defrost timer which is in the food compartment i attempt to put the refrigerator into the defrost mode by advancing the timer, the timer went all the way around and back to the position that i started from without going into defrost, this means that the defrost timer is defected and needs to be replaced.

kenmore oven failure code

Posted by fyxer on September 26, 2007

kenmore oven or stove with electronic controls are usually more accurate than their older analog models, however these electronic digital stoves are more delicate and sensative,

whenever there is a problem with the electronic control it will flash a failure code along with a series of beeps, sometimes pressing cancel will temporary stop this condition but usually just for a few minutes, the codes are as follows–

fo–f1–f7–this is usually a stuck keypad or a bad control board.

f2 usually mean a over temperature accur–control senses oven temperature above 615 degrees with the door circuit in the unlock position

f3–f4  is a open or shorted sensor–i see this happens a lot after a long self cleaning

fc–problem in the door lock circuit
